SAYOR
ENTREPRENEUR · PHOTOGRAPHER · AUTHOR
I’m Sayor, a student, entrepreneur, photographer, and author currently based in Dhaka, originally from Sreepur, Gazipur. I’ve never been particularly good at sticking to one box, and I’ve never really wanted to. I’m interested in too many things: markets and technology, politics and geopolitics, cinema and books, photography and ideas. More than anything, I’m curious. I like understanding how things work, why people think the way they do, and what makes societies, institutions, and the world around us change.
I’m currently studying at Milestone College, where I also completed my secondary education. Being a student is still a big part of who I am, but I’ve always believed that education extends far beyond a classroom. A lot of what I learn comes from following questions wherever they lead me—reading, watching films, exploring new ideas, talking to people, observing what happens around me, and occasionally going down a completely unexpected rabbit hole at two in the morning.
This space is intentionally personal rather than exhaustive. It is a record of roles, thoughts, projects and fragments of a life in progress.
Entrepreneurship is one of the ways I channel that curiosity into something practical. I’m interested in building things, understanding businesses, and learning how ideas can turn into something tangible. I also invest in the stock market, which has become another way for me to study businesses, economics, markets, psychology, and the countless decisions that sit behind a number on a screen. I enjoy the process of learning as much as the outcome.
Photography gives me a different way of looking at the same world. I consider myself a street photographer, although I don’t carry around an elaborate camera setup. Most of what I shoot is simply taken on my iPhone. I like the spontaneity of it—the fact that I can walk through a street, notice a particular face, light, shadow, gesture, or completely ordinary moment, and capture it before it disappears. For me, photography has always been more about paying attention than having the best equipment.
I write for much the same reason: to pay attention, but to ideas rather than images. My writing tends to revolve around politics, geopolitics, ideology, technology, society, and the questions underneath the events we see every day. Writing helps me process what I’m thinking, challenge my own assumptions, and connect things that might not seem connected at first. I don’t necessarily write because I have all the answers. Quite often, I write because I’m trying to find better questions.
Politically, I identify as a socialist and remain actively involved in political and civic life. I believe in the principles of equality, social justice, collective progress, and a society where opportunity and dignity are not determined simply by wealth or circumstance. Politics, for me, is not just something to debate or write about—it is ultimately about people and the kind of society we choose to build.
That belief became particularly tangible during periods of crisis and political upheaval. During the July Revolution and around the 21 July Milestone College plane crash, I was involved in different efforts to help people on the ground, including assisting people in need, helping coordinate blood, and contributing wherever I could. Those experiences reminded me that sometimes the most meaningful thing you can do is simply show up and be useful.
Outside all of this, I love films and books. I’m drawn to stories that make me think long after they end, whether they come from a film, a novel, a political argument, a historical event, or a conversation with someone I’ve just met. Cinema, literature, photography, politics, and technology may look like separate interests, but to me they are all different ways of understanding people and the world they create.
I don’t really want to be defined by one profession or one title. I’m still a student, still learning, still experimenting, and still figuring out what I want to build. Some interests will probably stay with me for years; others will change completely. I’m comfortable with that.
This website is a place to document that process.
It isn’t meant to be a traditional résumé or a perfectly polished portfolio. It’s more personal than that—a digital archive of the things I create, the ideas I explore, the work I take seriously, and the moments I think are worth keeping. Some parts will be finished and considered. Others will simply be fragments of where I happened to be at a particular point in my life.
For now, I’m a student from Bangladesh, building my life in Dhaka, trying to understand a little more about the world every day, and making things along the way.
I’m still figuring it out.
I think that’s the point.
